The ‘Friends of the Vanuatu Museum’ is a charitable organisation, incorporated under the Charitable Associations Act in 2003. The objectives of the Association are to:
- raise funds for the work of the National Museum and Cultural Centre;
- promote and raise the profile of the work of the National Museum and Cultural Centre;
- educate the public about the work of the National Museum and Cultural Centre, and cultural heritage issues more generally;
- encourage the involvement of the community in the work of the National Museum and Cultural Centre.
The 'Friends of the Vanuatu Museum' organises talks, field trips, workshops for children in the Museum, fundraising events, exhibitions and other such activities to raise funds for the work of the National Museum and Cultural Centre. The organisation also applies to donors for funds for specific Museum projects. The current priority project for the Friends is the revamping of the permanent exhibition of the National Museum, a project which is currently underway.
