Researchers approved to undertake research in Vanuatu in 2007 (2nd round)

Under the conditions of the Vanuatu Cultural Research Policy, applications by foreign nationals to undertake research on a cultural subject in Vanuatu are considered by the national cultural research authority, the Vanuatu National Cultural Council, two times each year, at the end of March and at the end of September.

At the end of September 2007, the Council approved the following researchers to undertake research on these topics in these locations:

1. Sarah BRIKKE, Development Studies, Victoria University of Wellington: The perception of local communities of their forests in Vanuatu, Tanna and Efate

2. Sophie CAILLON, Geography, CEFE, CNRS (France): Migrations of people, cultivated plants and local knowledge about plants, Vanualava

3. Michael Gavin, Environment, Victoria University of Wellington: Understanding and predicting hotspots of traditional ecological knowledge, Malakula (various locations)

4. Edward TONKIN, Development Studies, Victoria University of Wellington: The role of civil society in democratic consolidation: A case study of Vanuatu

5. Gayna VETTER, Development Studies, Victoria University of Wellington: Transforming ICT user training in Port Vila, Vanuatu, Port Vila
