Reggae Star: Ky-Mani Marley visits the National Museum
On the occasion of his tour in Port Vila, Ky-Mani Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley visited the national museum on February 8, 2011. On arrival, his delegation was greeted with salu-salu and led by a colourful custom performance from Pentecost to the museum. The board members, staffs of the Vanuatu Cultural Centre (VKS) and a crowd of fans waited for him.
In the Museum, Mr Marcellin ABONG - Director of VCC and VNCC and the Museum Guide, Mr Edgar Hinge who performed a special sandroing relating Ky-Many’s song “One Heart”, welcomed him. Before the reggae legend toured the Museum, a special “bamboo music accompanied” national anthem was sang for him.
On his respond, Ky-Mani Marley said he was very impressed by the welcome ceremony and especially the diversity and richness of Vanuatu’s culture. “I really love Vanuatu, the people, the nature. It makes me feel back home in Jamaica. I have created a relationship with the people. This is my first visit and I intend to strengthen this ties in the future” the reggae legend concluded.
Thanks to Paradise FM98 and TVL for organising the concert and including VKS to Ky-Mani’s timetable in Vila!
