The Vanuatu National Language Council has released the draft Vanuatu National Language Policy for public consultation.
On the 15th November 2005, the bill to establish the Vanuatu National Language Council was presented in its first reading to the Parliament. It is anticipated that the bill will be passed by the Parliament, and following its publication in the official gazette, the Vanuatu National Language Council will become a legally-constituted statutory body. On the same day, the draft National Language Policy was presented for the first time to the public at the 2nd National Language Conference, held at the Emalus Campus of the University of the South Pacific and funded by UNESCO. This Policy has been drafted by the National Language Council and is now open for public comment. Any comments (proposed additions, amendments, etc) should be forwarded to ralph.regenvanu@vanuatuculture.org
