Researchers approved to undertake research in Vanuatu in 2010-2011

Under the conditions of the Vanuatu Cultural Research Policy, applications by foreign nationals to undertake research on a cultural subject in Vanuatu are considered by the national cultural research authority, the Vanuatu National Cultural Council (VNCC), two times each year, at the end of March and at the end of September.

At the end of February 2011 and again on April 2011, the VNCC Council approved the following researchers to undertake research on these topics in these locations:

The first list is the outstanding list of researchers that suposed to be aproved in September 2010 but they were just aproved on February 2011.

Rochelle Bailey, University of Otago, New Zeland. Evaluation study of  the life of the  Ambrym Regional Seasonal Employees returning fron New Zeland. The Cultural Impact.

Anne Brown, Volker Boege, Marc Love, Peter Westoby, University of Queensland. Phese III of the "Kastom" governance Partnership program. The project was put on hold until further notice prior for the council to receive the report of the Phase I and Phase II of the project.

Romain Chambrin, University of Paris X, France. He is researching on Ambrym "Kastom" and its commercialisation.

Joseph Cheer, Tourism Research Unit, Monash University, Australia. Research of the impact of the Tourism Activities in Tanna.

Jack Corbett, Australian National University. Project not approved.

Simon Feen& Lachlan Mc Donald, RMT University, Melbourne, Australia. How Vanuatu and Pacific people can be more resilient against world economic shock.

Miranda Forsyth, ANU & Catherine SERANO, University of the South Pacific. Research about Intellectual Property Right and the Free trade Agreement.

Researcher Malin Hassler, Linnaeus University, Sweeden.Change of cultural life style in Vanuatu.

Silja Klepp, University of Bremen, Germany. Research about Climate change and its impact in Vanuatu.

Elli Papas, Univesity of Queensland. Research about "Tatou" in Vanuatu.

Kristie Petrou, University of Sydney, Australia. Research about Paama people and their Migration to other islands in Vanuatu.

Candice Roze, University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK. Research on the People of santo and their forest.

Benoît Vulliet, University of Paris I, France. Research on Successfull busniss people in Melanesia, Vanuatu,

This is the first list of 2011 researchers that was aproved by VNCC

James L. Flexner, PHD, washington and Lee University. He is an ancient building specialist. he will be helping on the reabilitation of the old church building in Lenakel Tanna and Erromango.

Vincent Lebo and Marc Tabani, camille Haudebourg and Maelle Calendra (CREDO et CNRS. This a disciplinary project that will study Vanuatu Cultural System and their agro-biodiversity.

Alexandre François and Monika Stern. CNRS France. Release of Cd of traditional Music. Project put on hold.

Dr Sarah Byrne PHD. UCL, Centre fro Museums, Heritage and material Culture studies Institute of Archaeology, London UK. Help Vanuatu in building its capacity towards preservation.

Dr Merideth Wilson PHD, Dr Christophe Ballard, Alison and Marc Nizette, Australian National University, Canberra, Australia. Strenthening world heriatge and protecetd Area and governance. This is a PPSLP and UNDP funded project.

William Skinner, PHD, University of Adelaide, Australia. Research on Tourism in Tanna.

Rory Walsh, PHD, University of New England. Research on Natural Desastre through Myths and legend.

Alice Servy, PHD, University of Aix-en -Provence, France. Research on Youth and sexuality in Vanutu.
